Job Description

A well-established construction services organization is seeking an Estimator to support a steady pipeline of utility and infrastructure projects. This role offers flexibility to hire either a developing estimator or a more experienced professional, depending on background and depth of estimating experience.

This position works closely with operations and project leadership to develop accurate, competitive bids and support successful project execution.

Experience Levels & Compensation

  • Estimator (1-2 years): $65,000-80,000 base
  • Senior Estimator: $80,000-$125,000 base
  • Bonus eligibility (10%)

What You'll Do

  • Review bid documents and project information to identify scope, risk, and key cost drivers
  • Develop detailed estimates, pricing models, and supporting bid documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams to clarify scope, assumptions, and execution approach
  • Request and evaluate subcontractor and material pricing
  • Prepare questions and clarifications for owners or customers during the bid process
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Analyze historical data and cost trends to improve accuracy over time
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and occasional job site visits (limited travel)

  • Utility and infrastructure construction
  • Distribution and transmission-related work
  • Traffic control and right-of-way support
  • Telecom or underground services
  • Surface restoration (asphalt, concrete, soft surfaces)

What We're Looking For

  • Relevant experience in construction estimating or cost analysis, with responsibility level aligned to experience
  • Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred (not required)
  • Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard office applications; experience with estimating software is a plus
  • Working knowledge of common construction contract structures, including lump sum, unit price, time & materials, and cost-plus
  • Ability to interpret project documentation, identify scope elements, and assess risk factors
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
